Stockheim (desert)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Stockheim was a place in the Hintertaunus northwest of today's Usingen . The place was the seat of the Stockheim court , a historical administrative district. The noble family Stockheim resident there derives its name from this place, which was therefore probably the ancestral seat of the family.

In 1195 Stockheim was mentioned in a document as Stogheim . The castle, village and office were mentioned in documents until 1456. From 1456 Stockheim was only referred to as a desert . Today the field names Stockheimer Hof (Usingen), Stockheimer Bach and Stockheimer Graben ( Merzhausen ) are reminiscent of the former village.
