Stokys were toys made by the Stockmann brothers and manufactured in Switzerland during World War II . The first aluminum construction kit came on the market in 1942.

As a result of the war, the import of toys practically came to a standstill. The founding of the Stockmann brothers on the city limits of Lucerne was therefore a stroke of luck for the toy trade. Just a few years earlier, the Meccano metal construction kit and its German competitor product from Märklin dominated the market. During the war, both products were practically no longer available, although the metal construction kit - the forerunner of all educational and instructional games - held an important position in the toy market at that time. Stokys adopted their hole spacing of 1/2 inch, screw size of 5/32 inch and the gears module 0.65.

Under the name of Stokys Systeme AG , metal kits and products based on the model of the old Stokys have been manufactured and sold in Bauma (Switzerland) since 2007 . In addition to building sets and some finished objects, all individual parts can also be delivered separately. Together with the Swissmechanic umbrella organization, the educational goal is to get children and young people interested in technology and technical professions.
