The Stormartillerivagn m / 43 (Sav m / 43) was a Swedish assault gun from the 1940s.

history

In 1941 the General Staff of the Swedish Army requested the creation of artillery SPGs. Several variants of guns that could be considered for this were examined. Scania-Vabis designed the Sav m / 43 based on the Stridsvagn m / 41 (Strv m / 41) - a license production of the CKD-Praga TNHP - in 1943 . It had a turretless structure, closed on all sides, in which a cannon was embedded. Of these, 36 vehicles were ordered in March 1944. This led to the discontinuation of the production of the Strv m / 41 SII, the last 18 copies of which were completed as Sav m / 43 in the years 1944 and 1945. Since the intended 105-mm cannon m / 44 was not yet available, they received the 75-mm cannon m / 02 from Bofors, but by March 1946 all had the intended armament. A second series of 18 vehicles, which were manufactured from 1946 to 1947, received the 105 mm cannon m / 44 SAV from the start. You were in the service of the Swedish armed forces until the reorganization of the infantry in 1973.
