Storskog is a small place in the county of Troms og Finnmark in the far northeast of Norway . The only border crossing between Norway and Russia is located in the vicinity of the place on the European route 105 .

The time difference when crossing the border is two hours in winter and only one hour in summer due to the summer time in Norway .

Since February 2015, the Storskog border crossing has been used by refugees as a so-called “Arctic route”. The transition established itself as a way for refugees from Syria and Afghanistan to get to Norway. In November 2015, the Norwegian government introduced stricter asylum regulations in Norway.
