Beach house Döse
The beach house Döse in Cuxhaven - Döse am Steinmarner Seedeich, Auf dem Seedeich / Strandhausallee, is a Lower Saxony monument and is included in the list of architectural monuments of the outskirts of the city of Cuxhaven .
history
After the Second World War, there was no lounge, restaurant and sanitary facilities for visitors to Döser Strand . An ideas competition was held in 1953 for the construction of a beach hall and of 73 works submitted, the design by Walter Söhnker, Hamburg, received first prize and it was realized.
The two-storey beach house from 1955 consists of the glazed upper floor with a view of the beach and the Outer Elbe as a busy shipping route and the ground floor with guest and service rooms and the changing rooms. The building was erected on the slightly elevated former battery Hipper , in a central location on the beach between Kugelbake and Duhnen.
Today (2020) the renovated building is used by a panorama restaurant with up to 200 seats, the Deichschänke, the beach bistro and a terrace. The changing rooms, showers and toilets are in a separate building, as is the music pavilion in between.
