Strategy planning and early warning unit

The strategic planning and early warning unit (English: Policy unit , French: Unité politique ) is part of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) of the EU countries.

reasons

The reason for the establishment of these units was the coherence of the common foreign and security policy, which inevitably depends on the reaction of the member states to international developments. The unit is currently (2009) headed by the following superordinate persons:

The strategic planning and early warning unit monitors and analyzes developments in the areas of the CFSP in accordance with the appendix to the Amsterdam Treaty . It assesses the foreign and security policy interests of the European Union and determines future priorities of the CFSP accordingly. In addition, it evaluates events or situations that could affect the EU's foreign policy in good time and prepares documents, reasons and options. The staff is provided by the General Secretariat, the Commission and the member states.
