Stream filament
The stream filament is a model concept in fluid mechanics .
A stream filament is defined as the fluid within an imaginary, thin tube, the surface of which is formed by streamlines . This means that no flow can pass through the surface of a stream filament, since a flow always runs tangential to the streamlines.
The density , pressure , speed and temperature are constant over the cross section of the stream filament . However, these sizes can change along the stream filament.
In the streamline theory the overall flow of a system is viewed by the flow in a current thread.
