Studio magazine

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Studio Magazin is a German-language trade magazine for professional audio technology. It appears monthly in Studio Presse Verlags GmbH and can only be obtained by subscription.

history

Fritz Fey and Ernst Müller were the founders of the publishing house. The first edition appeared in January 1978. Since December 1994 Fritz Fey has been the sole partner and managing director of the company. In 2017 he received the Medal of Honor from the Association of German Tonmeister (VDT) for his services to the recording studio industry. On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the issue, the first 100 issues were digitized and put online.

By 1986 both the title and subtitle of the magazine changed. In the first few years the magazine appeared under the name "Studio", only from October 1984 it was called "Studio Magazin". The subtitles changed several times: Initially it was called “Magazine for the Studio and Production Sector” (Issue 1–15), it soon became the “Specialist magazine for sound studio and music production” (Issue 16–76), then the “Specialist magazine for professional audio” - und Videotechnik ”(Issue 77-95) until, after a conceptual revision, the term still valid today, the“ trade journal for professional audio technology ”prevailed (from issue 96).

In terms of content, the magazine offers test reports with its own measurements, industry information, interviews, specialist articles and reports on trade fairs and conferences. Some topics from the early days of the magazine have disappeared over time, including video technology, radio technology (FM magazine) or articles about electronic musical instruments. The publisher's own recording studio is used for device tests.

The sister publication Studio eMagazin has been appearing in electronic form with its own content concept since 2012 .
