Suhl hook assembly

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Suhler Einhak Montage ( SEM ) is a proprietary mounting system for attaching telescopic sights to rifles . In contrast to fixed assemblies, the SEM enables the target optics to be removed from the weapon at any time. This makes it possible to use an existing open sight or another optical sight.

Expertly assembled, the SEM is an extremely precise method of assembly, i.e. This means that exactly the same point of impact is maintained after the optics are placed on the weapon again. There is therefore no need for time- consuming, repeated sighting . The assembly consists of four main assemblies: two assembly bases, which are firmly attached to the weapon by the gunsmith, and two hook-in parts attached to the target optics. A mechanism on the rear mounting base must be triggered to remove the target optics.

Because of the large amount of working time required to attach the SEM to a weapon, the SEM is now installed less frequently and has been displaced from its - previously dominant - market position by alternatives that can be attached more quickly, such as EAW swivel mounting , manufacturer-specific mounting systems or the Picatinny rail . There are also adapter pieces available on the market for using a weapon with mounted SEM and other mounting parts.
