Summernats
Summernats is an automobile fair combined with a festival in the Australian capital Canberra . It has been held every year for four days in January since 1988, is the most famous event of its kind in Australia and attracts many tourists. In 2005, a new record was set with 119,000 visitors.
The venue is Canberra Racecourse in the Mitchell district. Numerous cars that have been artistically designed with airbrush technology or those that have been lovingly restored or lavishly tuned will be presented. Prizes are awarded in numerous categories, the main prize being the title of "Summernats Grand Champion". In addition, numerous other events take place such as car parades, fireworks, burn-out competitions or the election of a "Miss Summernats".
