Summly was a company that has a same until March 2013 iPhone - app offering, the texts summarizing to 400 characters. The takeover of the company by Yahoo for $ 30 million in March 2013 attracted international attention because the developer of the software, Nick D'Aloisio , was only 17 years old. The app was discontinued with the takeover. It was removed from the Apple App Store a few months after the Summly acquisition  .

Summly was based on software from SRI International .
