history

SuperCard was written in 1989 by Bill Appleton, the author of WorldBuilder, as a better HyperCard for Silicon Beach Software. In 1990 the company was bought by Aldus. In 1994 SuperCard was bought by the company "Allegiant Technologies", consisting of previous SuperCard developers. In December 1994 the first PowerPC-optimized version was released.

Despite initial successes such as the release of a SuperCard browser plug-in for Macintosh and Windows, Allegiant ceased business in 1998 and sold SuperCard to IncWell DMG, a user of SuperCard technology. In 2002, the developers who had developed SuperCard for IncWell bought the program from the company and continued development independently under the company name "Solutions Etcetera".
