Supercentenarian
In English, a supercentenarian is a person who is at least 110 years old. An estimated 300 to 450 supercentenarians currently live worldwide; however, only a fraction has been scientifically tested for age.
According to the Gerontology Research Group , the age of over 1700 supercentenarians has been verified so far (as of January 2015).
Geert Adriaans Boomgaard from the Netherlands , who died in 1899 at the age of 110 years and 135 days , is considered to be the first person known to have reached the age of 110 .
The oldest person with confirmed life data is Jeanne Calment , who died in 1997 at the age of 122 years and 164 days.
An international study published in 2010 under the leadership of the Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research in Rostock showed that the countries with the most supercentenarians are the United States , Great Britain , Japan , France and Italy .
