The Suprema Corte de Justicia de la Nación (SCJN) is the highest court in Mexico .

Judicial offices

The SCJN is composed of 11 federal judges, so-called ministros , among them the President of the Supreme Court. The federal judges are selected by the Senate of the Congress of the Union of Mexico from the nomination list of the Mexican President. The term of office as federal judge is fixed for a maximum of 15 years, a second term of office is not possible. From among the federal judges, they elect the President of the Supreme Court, whose term of office is limited to four years. Re-election to this office is possible, but not in immediate succession.
