Surame
Surame was the capital of the Kebbi Empire in the 15th and 16th centuries. The impressive remains of the city are 40 kilometers northwest of Sokoto in northwest Nigeria . They consist of an outer and an inner rampart , which is still up to seven meters high today. The upper part of the wall consists partly of layered stones. Within the city wall , the remains of a royal palace , a mosque and individual houses with their small curtain walls can be seen. The outer rampart extends over a length of nine kilometers.
