surfEU was a European Internet service provider that offered Internet access , a free e-mail service and free SMS dispatch.
Emergence
surfEU was founded in September 1999 by Dov and Anat Bar-Gera. After the company was founded, Media-Saturn-Holding acquired a significant stake in surfEU. Other investors were Invision AG from Zug, Grumann Hill from New York and Venture Partners from Zurich. The management held a significant stake in the company.

surfEU was taken over in April 2001 by the Italian internet service provider Tiscali . With this transaction , Tiscali rose to become the third largest Internet provider in the German market with over 1.8 million active customers (as of March 31, 2001).
One of surfEU's greatest strengths was its cooperation with Media-Saturn-Holding , through which the Internet service provider expanded very quickly and was able to keep the costs for customer acquisition low. In addition, surfEU had a distribution agreement with R-Kioski and Expert in Finland.
SurfEU no longer offers internet access. The e-mail addresses of surfEU (@ surfeu.de) became invalid on October 28, 2008 due to the withdrawal of Tiscali in Germany .
