The RM series is a model family of two- and four-stroke motorcycles from the manufacturer Suzuki . RM stands for "Racing Model" ( racing model) and referred motorcycles , specifically for motocross races are designed. With the RM 125 M, the first model in the series was presented in 1975. The RM 125 A, RM 250 A, and the RM 370 A followed in 1976. The predecessor of the RM series was the TM series. This included the following models: TM 75, TM 100, TM 125, TM 250 and TM 400.

The following models of the RM series are still produced today:

  • RM-Z 250 (four-stroke)
  • RM-Z 450 (four-stroke)
  • RM 85 (two-stroke)
  • RM 250 (two-stroke production was discontinued in 2008, in 2012 this was produced again by Suzuki, currently no production takes place)
  • RM 125 (two-stroke production was discontinued in 2008, there is currently no production)

The Suzuki RM 500 was built from 1983 to 1985. In 1981 the Suzuki RM 465 X came on the market. It was the first RM 465 model with the full floater deflection and ended the twinshock era. The RM 465 was built until 1982. The 1982 model can be recognized by the 38 mm flat slide carburetor instead of the 36 mm Mikuni round slide carburetor as in the 1981 model. In 1983 the first RM 500 came on the market, with 492 cm³ and a front duplex brake system. The model was built in this version until 1984.

In 1985 the RM 500 got a disc brake and golden rims at the front. With it, the era of the large 2-stroke motocross machines from Suzuki came to an end.

Since model year 1990, all RMs have been equipped with upside-down forks. In particular, this reduced the weight of the unsprung mass and achieved greater rigidity thanks to the larger mounts in the fork bridge.
