Swiss movie (English; Swiss film , original spelling swiss.movie ) is an association and organizer for Swiss non-professional film.

history

In 1935 the “Federation of Swiss Film Amateurs” (BSFA) was founded. Various name changes have led to the name swiss.movie over the years . swiss.movie is the oldest organization in Switzerland dedicated to independent film.

Members

Members are around 30 film and video clubs throughout Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein , over 500 active filmmakers and 1000 supporters who are affiliated with the clubs. Institutions and film teams that are organized outside of the clubs and young filmmakers who come to the festivals via the Swiss Youth Film Festival can also become members. Individual members are also admitted.

The association promotes amateur film in all its forms regardless of its origin and makes a contribution to promoting film in Switzerland with offers in the field of training and knowledge transfer.

To this end, Swiss movie organizes an annual national competition, which ranges from the level of members, clubs, regional festivals to the Swiss championship. A selection of these film works will be included in the «Filmothek» and made available to the affiliated clubs. swiss.movie is a member of the world association of filmmakers, UNICA , and takes part in its world championships every year with a selection of films.

activities

The festivals at regional, national and international level are an exhibition of non-professional filmmaking. The association maintains a partnership with the Swiss Youth Film Festival, for the establishment of which it was largely responsible in 1976.
