Sydväxtberg

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Hykjeberg in the municipality of Mora . It is a typical sydväxtberg with a hundred meter high slope on the south side.

A sydväxtberg is a special type of mountain and a type of vegetation in Sweden . The mountainside faces south, west or east and has a higher level of solar radiation than north-facing slopes. The sun warms the rock and a milder microclimate is created in spring and autumn. Together with the mountain's groundwater, which is often rich in minerals, this leads to rich and varied vegetation, with species that otherwise only occur in more southern regions. An example of a sydväxtberg is Billaberget near Örnsköldsvik .
