The synagogue in Borghorst , a district of Steinfurt in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia , was built in 1854/55. The synagogue was on the corner of Mittelstrasse and Lechtestrasse.

The construction of the synagogue in the village center was made possible by a loan from a local manufacturer. The synagogue building, which in autumn 1938 was no longer owned by the Jewish community, was opened on 9/10. Completely cremated by arson in November 1938 .

Commemoration

In 1965 a stele was erected on the site of the synagogue with the inscription under a menorah : “This was the place of worship of the Jewish community. It was destroyed on November 9, 1938 by wicked acts. "
