Syndicat intercommunal à vocation multiple
Syndicat intercommunal à vocation multiple ( SIVOM ) is a category of intercommunal special-purpose associations in France , introduced by a statutory order (ordonnance) of January 5, 1959. A law of January 5, 1988 gave municipalities the opportunity to transfer competences individually to a SIVOM (syndicalisme à la carte) . As of the 1990s, almost all of these organizations were replaced by Communautés de communes .
