System Landscape Directory

In the System Landscape Directory ( SLD ) all information to a computer - system landscape in the SAP stored -Umfeld.

On the one hand, this includes all products and software components used in the Technical Landscape area with the technical properties of the systems used (e.g. operation under Java or ABAP , version information, etc.); Systems in use (test systems, production systems, development systems, etc.).

All information about a company's systems (test, quality assurance and production) are stored in the SLD. All communication channels through which the various systems can be reached are also recorded. A system can be an SAP client, a non-SAP system or an external partner system.

This information is used both to inform the employees responsible in SAP customer support and to provide the customer's employees with an overview of the installed system landscape and the communication channels.

Information can be entered manually into the SLD with program support; when certain modules are reinstalled, this information is automatically entered within the installation process from a certain program version onwards. Settings for synchronizing the SLD data are maintained in ABAP systems using transaction RZ70. In Java systems via the Visual Administrator (up to NW JAVA 7.1) or via the NetWeaver Administrator (NWA from NW JAVA 7.2). The systems registered under the technical landscape must be assigned to one of the business systems entered in the business landscape (e.g. a client) so that a SAP process can then be controlled solely using the systems and processes defined in the business landscape. These processes are thus independent z. B. to change the hardware used, if the hardware is changed, only the system assignment between technical landscape and business landscape is changed.
