Systems Resource Manager

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Systems Resource Manager (SRM) is the resource management of the z / OS operating system . The SRM is inextricably linked with the Workload Manager (WLM).

In previous versions of z / OS, the OS / 370 and OS / 390 operating systems, the SRM was a standalone manager for resource management. In contrast to today's mode of operation and the WLM, the SRM has provided a proportion-oriented resource management. Processes can be provided with fixed shares and access authorizations for the system resources. With the introduction of " Parallel Sysplex " clusters, this method led to extensive definitions and was replaced by target-oriented resource management with the simultaneous introduction of the Workload Manager.
