Tunnel de les dos Valires

The Túnel de les dos Valires is an important road tunnel in the Principality of Andorra that connects the two Andorran municipalities of La Massana and Encamp .

history

The four-lane, two-tube tunnel with a length of 2.870 kilometers connects the main roads CG 2 and CG 3 . Construction started in 2005. An accident at the Pont de Lisboa viaduct in La Massana in 2009, in which five Portuguese construction workers were killed, caused a delay.

The tunnel was therefore only opened in July 2012. The construction costs amounted to around 160 million euros. The construction work was carried out by the Andorran company Grup Heracles and the planning company UTE Euroconsult . The operator is the Agència de Mobilitat Govern d'Andorra .
