TAL ( T ransaction A pplication L anguage) is a programming language that was developed by Tandem NonStop Systems as a system-related language for their high-availability computers from the mid-1970s .

TAL has a syntax that is based on C , partly also on Pascal , with specific language elements for client-server architectures . TAL was optimized directly for the RISC processors used and replaced the assembly languages ​​on the implemented platforms. TAL is now maintained by Hewlett-Packard .
