TUBA (protocol)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

TCP and UDP with Bigger Addresses (TUBA) was a concept for a possible redesign of the IPv4 protocol, published in 1996. This extension was supposed to solve the problem of the too small address space for IP addresses on the Internet . The proposal was based on the OSI " Connectionless Network Protocol " (CLNP). and was designed as TCP / UDP with larger IP addresses.

TUBA is described in RFCs ( Request for Comments ) # 1347, # 1526 and # 1561 - in the end, however, the IPv6 standard prevailed .
