(Johann) Wilhelm Haase-Lampe (born September 16, 1877 in Bremen ; † February 12, 1950 in Lübeck ) was a German journalist , author and director of the Drägerwerk's public relations department .

Life

Wilhelm Haase-Lampe was born the son of a master basket maker and, after finishing school, learned the profession of printer at a newspaper, which also included editorial and journalistic work. Then he went on a hike , during which he carried out various activities to write reports and, among other things, temporarily worked as a miner in the Barsinghausen coal mine . From 1897 he wrote reports and feature articles about mining and metallurgy for various newspapers in the Ruhr area before moving temporarily to West Prussia .

In August 1903 Haase-Lampe came to Lübeck and took an editorial post at the Lübeck General-Anzeiger , which he held for nine years. While researching the great mine disaster at Courrières , Haase-Lampe came into contact with the Drägerwerk Lübeck and its owners Heinrich and Bernhard Dräger in 1906 . In 1912, due to his many years of experience in mining, he received an offer from the Drägerwerk to set up one of the first departments for public relations as director of a newly founded literary department . He accepted and from then on wrote instructions for use and application scenarios for Drägerwerk products, edited catalogs and was editor of the company magazine Draeger-Hefte, which appeared in 1913 . Haase-Lampe remained in this position until his retirement in 1942; but did not give up his function as editor of the company newspaper until his death. During his time at Dräger, Haase-Lampe wrote 21 books, particularly on topics relating to mining safety and the development and use of ventilators and breathing apparatus .

Wilhelm Haase-Lampe had already openly represented social democratic views during the German Empire , but at no time did this constitute an obstacle to his good relationship with the Dräger family or lead to internal tensions. Because he hoped to find "Christian socialism" here, Haase-Lampe became a member of the NSDAP in April 1933. In the following year he was expelled from the party because of critical statements. On June 27, 1939, he was denounced by Adolf Eichmann because of a letter to Melanie Gaertner, Gustav Gaertner's Jewish widow , in which he stated that she was oppressed by her discrimination by the National Socialist regime . For Haase-Lampe, however, the denunciation had no consequences.

In addition to his professional activity, Wilhelm Haase-Lampe was active as a local historian and homeland protector in Lübeck . In the spring of 1924 he was one of the co-founders of the Lübeck Home Protection Association and was editor-in-chief of the monthly association magazine Heimatblätter , for which he wrote numerous articles over a period of 16 years.
