Michael Kamp

Michael Kamp (* 1966 in Schönebeck (Elbe) ) is a German historian and author of non-fiction books, especially biographies and company histories .

Life and activity

After graduating from the Extended High School (EOS) in Calbe (Saale) ( Salzlandkreis ), former GDR , Kamp studied mathematics at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . An attempt to flee across the Hungarian-Austrian border at the beginning of 1989 failed, whereupon Kamp was convicted of " illegally crossing the border ".

After his release from prison in November 1989, he moved to the Federal Republic of Germany and studied history and political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the University College London from 1991 to 1996 . During his studies he worked at the university archive and at the Institute for the History of Science at the LMU in Munich. In 2002 he received his doctorate on the subject of "The Museum as a Place of Politics, Munich Museums in the 19th Century".

Since 2003 he has been working as a freelance author with a focus on biography and economic history and is a partner in a company that deals with history.

His books have been published by August Dreesbach Verlag , Gietl Verlag, Beck Verlag , Random House and Wachholtz Verlag .

Kamp lives in Munich.
