Werner Eckart

Werner Eckart (born March 27, 1909 in Munich ; † May 17, 1997 ibid) was a German food entrepreneur. He founded the Pfanni company in 1949 , then in Munich.

Life

The Eckart family has been running food businesses since 1605. Werner Eckart's grandfather, Johannes Eckart, founded the Johs canning factory in 1868 . Eckart , the first Bavarian canning factory. His father, Otto Eckart, the king of dumplings , found a method of preserving potatoes and produced dried potatoes as food for the troops during the First World War . From 1926 to 1928 Werner Eckart trained in the Upper Palatinate canning industry Ludwig Gschossmann GmbH & Co. KG in Schwandorf . In 1932 he received power of attorney in his father's company. On January 1, 1943, he changed the corporate form of the company to a limited partnership . Until 1945, the Wehrmacht ensured high sales of the canning factory in dried potatoes, vegetables and powder . From September 2, 1949, Werner Eckart brought a dehydrated potato mixture to the market under the brand name Pfanni .

The government of José Miguel Ramón Idígoras Fuentes in Guatemala appointed Eckart their consul, and the federal government issued him the exequatur on April 17, 1962 . Werner Eckart acquired the Spreda Nahrungsmittelwerke near Cloppenburg during the economic recession in 1967 . On the occasion of the murder of Karl Graf von Spreti , Werner Eckart resigned as consul of the Republic of Guatemala in 1970. From 1974 Eckart was consul general ad honorem of the Republic of the Philippines . His son Otto Eckart became Consul General of Guatemala in 1974, took over the company in 1987 and founded the Otto Eckart Foundation in 1996 .
