The Zeitschrift für Unternehmensgeschichte (ZUG) is an academic specialist journal devoted to corporate and economic history topics. It is run by the Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte e. V. (GUG) and appears every six months by De Gruyter .
Creation of the magazine
The magazine has existed under its current name since 1977 and is the successor to the tradition that has existed since 1956 . Journal for company history and entrepreneur biography . This fell into crisis in the 1970s, and the publisher threatened to close. The aim of founding the Gesellschaft für Unternehmensgeschichte e. V. in 1976 was therefore among other things the receipt of the magazine. The GUG took over the tradition that had been published by Franz Steiner Verlag since January 1, 1976 under the title Zeitschrift für Unternehmensgeschichte . In 2017 she moved to De Gruyter.
Editorial team
The ZUG is edited by Jan-Otmar Hesse (University of Bayreuth) as the responsible editor, Christian Kleinschmidt (Phillips University of Marburg) and Werner Plumpe (Goethe University of Frankfurt am Main), in conjunction with Hartmut Berghoff (Georg-August University of Göttingen) , Carsten Burhop (Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn), Andreas Fahrmeir (Goethe University Frankfurt am Main), Raymond Stokes (University of Glasgow) and Thomas Welskopp (University Bielefeld). The editorial manager is Andrea H. Schneider-Braunberger (Managing Director of GUG).
Reach and certification
The ZUG has the status of a refereed journal . Since 2011, the journal has been in the top category INT1 in the ranking of the European Science Foundation . In 2008, ZUG was also included in the European Reference Index for the Humanities and the Social Sciences ( ERIH PLUS ). Submitted articles are subject to an anonymous review process, with which a decision is made about inclusion in the journal, and are published in German or English. Articles that appear in ZUG are summarized and listed in Historical Abstracts and America: Historiy and Life .
The first 50 years of ZUG and tradition have been retro-digitized and are available on JSTOR .
