Otmar Franz

Otmar Franz (born January 6, 1935 in Marburg ) is a German manager and politician.

Life

Franz was born in Marburg in 1935 as the son of the historian Günther Franz . After a commercial apprenticeship, he studied economics and law in Marburg and Frankfurt. He did his doctorate on the industrialization of Egypt.

From 1976 to 1990, Franz was chairman of the management board at Klöckner-Industrieanlagenbau and a member of the Klöckner & Co AG executive board . For the next five years he acted as CEO of the Strabag AG construction group .

From 1981 to 1989 he was a member of the CDU in the European Parliament , and is still an honorary member today.

Franz has been chairman of the board of the RKW Rationalization and Innovation Center of the German Economy since 1991 and chairman of the RKW board of trustees.

He is also honorary chairman of the board of the Society for Company History and was deputy chairman of the Ludwig Erhard Foundation .
