Rungu

The Rungu also Tabwa or Warungu are a Bantu ethnic group in the southwest of Tanzania and northeast of Zambia .

In 1987 their number in Tanzania was estimated at 34,000. The number of Rungu in Zambia is not known because they are grouped under the Mambwe ethnic group there. The number was estimated at 262,800 in Zambia in 1993.

The Rungu are arable farmers and ranchers. They are Christians with animistic roots.

The languages ​​of the Mambwe , the Lungu and the Rungu differ in dialect variations.
