Mambwe (people)

Mambwe is a Bantu language ethnic group in the district of Mbala in Zambia . Their number is given as 262,000.

Many Mambwe are traders and can be found in the markets in cities of the Copperbelt .

The languages ​​of the Mambwe, Lungu and Nyamwanga are very similar to each other and are subsumed under the Bemba language in Zambia . Bemba is the language of instruction in schools in these areas. In Tanzania , their language is heavily mixed with Swahili .
