The Takeda Shingen statue ( Japanese 武 田信玄 公 の 銅像 , Takeda Shingen-kō no dōzō or 武 田信玄 公 像 , Takeda Shingen kōzō ) shows Takeda Shingen and is located west of the south exit of the Kōfu train station .

The construction of the statue, financed by donations from more than 1000 people, began on April 8, 1968 and was completed on April 12, 1969. Originally the statue stood directly on the station square of the south exit, but was moved to its current location when it was renovated in November 1985.

The 3.1 m high bronze statue is on an equally high stone pedestal made of granite . The ensemble has a weight of 5 tons. The figure is a larger-than-life representation of the daimyō in a pose often also shown in ukiyo-e , sitting on a field chair, looking towards Mount Fuji .
