Talking point

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A talking point (English for: topic of conversation, or skillful argument) in a discourse is a concise statement that is intended to support one side of a contentious topic. These statements can be chosen freely or used as responses to the conversation partner's points of conversation. Talking points are often used on political issues.

The framing of political discourse through talking points has been criticized by Jon Stewart as a superficial treatment of contentious issues.
