Tamar (biblical place)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Tamar is the name of a place in southern Palestine in the Bible , next to the three women of the same name.

According to 1 Kings 9:18  EU, Tamar, in the land of Judah , was among the cities that Solomon built or restored . The city is also mentioned in the border description of the Book of Ezekiel as the south-eastern border point of the empire that YHWH has assigned to the 12 tribes of Israel as inheritance ( Ezek 47.19  EU and Ezek 48.28  EU ). The place is perhaps to be equated with 'ain el-'arus in the Araba depression .
