Lists on the subject

The Tameng is a shield from Indonesia.

description

The tameng is usually made of wood . The shield is elongated and worked slightly convex on the outer edges . This shield shape dates from before 1800. The upper and lower ends are straight. A wooden reinforcement is attached over the center line along the entire length of the back, which also forms the handle. A shield boss made of metal is attached in the middle of the front. There is a later form of tameng , which is round and braided from rattan cords . The outside of this version is usually covered with buffalo skin and decorated with metal spikes or stars. Another version is made of brass . The Tameng is used by ethnic groups from Indonesia.
