The Tandu Tandu also Ulu-Ulu is a helmet from Indonesia.

description

The tandu tandu is usually made of braided, flattened rattan . It is usually covered with the skin and fur of the sloth (Indon. Tokata or Kuse). It is often decorated with an upturned tassel made of animal hair and with metal, horn-shaped or crescent-shaped fittings. These fittings are supposed to symbolize the strength of the warrior who wears the helmet. This type of helmet was worn for a long time, but was rarely found by the early 20th century. Metal helmets were also in use in Indonesia, such as the Toraja brass helmet made according to the European model . The Tandu Tandu is used by ethnic groups from Indonesia.
