description
The Toraja metal helmet is usually made of brass . It is made after the model of the Spanish Morion helmets (Indon. Paseki). The first versions of these helmets were imported to Indonesia by the VOC ( Dutch East India Company ) around 1602-1795. The helmets are richly decorated with metal pads and a helmet plume. The helmet plume is made according to the Indonesian warriors' own wishes. The helmets are used by the Toraja, an ethnic group from Indonesia.
