Tamminiemi ( Swedish Villa Ekudden ) was the residence of the Finnish President . The villa is located in Helsinki .

history

The villa served the Finnish president as a residence from 1940 to 1981. Following the resignation of Urho Kekkonen for health reasons in 1981, was this in the villa until 1986. his death for the new President Mauno Koivisto was the Finnish Government to build a new residence in order. Construction work on the Mäntyniemi residence began in 1989 and was completed four years later, in 1993, and Tamminiemi was replaced as a residence. Today there is a museum about Urho Kekkonen in the villa.
