Mäntyniemi ( Swedish Talludden ) is the residence of the Finnish President and, in addition to the Presidential Palace and the Kultaranta , also one of the official seats. It is located in the Finnish capital Helsinki .

history

Following the resignation of Urho Kekkonen for health reasons in 1981, this remained in the former residence Tamminiemi until his death in 1986. For the new President Mauno Koivisto gave Finnish Government to build a new residence in order. Construction began in 1989 and was completed four years later, in 1993. Four presidents have lived here since it was completed: Mauno Koivisto, Martti Ahtisaari , Tarja Halonen and the incumbent Sauli Niinistö .
