Ligyrophobia

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ligyrophobia describes the panic fear of sudden, very loud noises (especially pops). Affected people fear z. B. the bursting of balloons or slamming doors. These people suffer especially on New Year's Eve , as they then suffer a lot from the rockets and smaller fireworks such as fireworks.

Phonophobia and other sound-related phobias (sonophobia, acousticophobia) are difficult to differentiate and are sometimes viewed as synonymous.

In psychiatry , such terms of specific phobias have hardly any meaning, see list of phobias .
