Kultaranta ( Swedish Gullranda ) is the summer residence of the Finnish President .

It is located on the island of Luonnonmaa in Naantali (Swedish Nådendal ) in southwest Finland . The granite building is surrounded by a 560,000 m² park.

Kultaranta was built by the Finnish architect Lars Sonck between 1914 and 1916 for the businessman Alfred Kordelin as a summer house. The main house consists of 19 rooms. In 1917, with the death of Kordelin, ownership passed to the University of Turku . In 1922 the Finnish Parliament decided to make the property available to the President as a summer residence.

The rose garden with over 3500 flowers and the greenhouses are open to the public after prior registration.

Kultaranta talks

Every year in summer, the so-called Kultaranta Talks ( Kultaranta-keskustelut ) take place on Kultaranta , a two-day discussion event on the subject of foreign and security policy . The meeting was launched in 2013 by President Sauli Niinistö and has since been organized by the Finnish Institute for International Affairs. Around one hundred foreign and security policy experts from different parts of society have been invited to the events, as well as political decision-makers, researchers and representatives from administration, business, organizations and the media.

In 2019, the meeting was opened by Federal President Frank-Walter Steinmeier .
