Tandem shaped charge

Warhead with tandem shaped charge of the Javelin

A tandem hollow charge is used as a warhead of small missiles to attack armored vehicles equipped with reactive armor . In contrast to the normal shaped charge , the tandem shaped charge has two shaped charges one behind the other. The front, smaller shaped charge detonates the reactive armor and prevents the effect of the second, larger shaped charge from being weakened.

The German Panzerfaust 3 -T and the Russian warheads PG-7VR (for RPG-7 ) and PG-29V (for RPG-29 ) also function on the tandem hollow charge principle.
