Tanpaku , from Japanese 蛋白 for "protein", was a Japanese project to calculate protein structures using the method of Brownian dynamics . In the context of distributed computing , BOINC was used as a cross-system platform .

The project was located at the Tokyo University of Natural Sciences and was supervised by the Yamato Laboratory (Department of Biological Science and Technology) and Takeda Laboratory (Department of Information Sciences).

On August 18, 2008, the project server suffered severe hardware damage. This resulted in the discontinuation of the project.
