The Handbook of Public Life (formerly: Taschenbuch des public life ; also TBÖ or the Oeckl ) is a comprehensive reference work for associations, organizations and authorities from politics, science, business, society and culture with communication data and contact persons in Germany. It goes back to Albert Oeckl , who founded the paperback in 1950.

At the beginning of the 1980s, the reference work had a circulation of 14,000 copies, in 2019 of around 2,500. The latter contains the contact details and basic information of 45,000 organizations and contacts in public life. Above all, it is valued for the fact that you can not only find information about a certain organization, but also information that has the same or a similar field of activity. Scientists also use the Oeckl to research former office holders and those responsible. Until the edition in 2018, the reference work was called the Pocket Book of Public Life , since 2019 the Handbook of Public Life .
