TaskJuggler is a project management software . In contrast to conventional project planning programs, TaskJuggler is based on a powerful project description language from which the project plan is calculated. TaskJuggler supports the project manager in all phases of a project , from the first idea to completion. It offers functions for time planning , cost accounting , risk analysis , status tracking and communication management .

The program has an optimizing control program that calculates the time intervals for all tasks as well as the allocation of resources. The resource balancer automatically prevents individual resources from being overloaded. Thanks to the flexible project description language, the project manager can include as many details in the plan as is currently known. TaskJuggler then calculates the remaining data and allows you to add more data at any time as soon as it becomes known.

The TaskJuggler Project was founded in 2001 by Christian Schläger as an open source project. At first it was a command line program that generated reports in HTML . Since August 2004 it has had a graphical front-end based on the KDE libraries. In version 3 this graphical front end was removed again. Version 3 is a new implementation in Ruby and is therefore platform-independent.
