The Tautas partija ( TP ; German People's Party ) was a political party in Latvia . She was a member of the European People's Party and described herself as conservative . Founder and first party chairman until 2002 was Andris Šķēle . After Šķēle officially left politics, Atis Slakteris was chairman.
history
In the parliamentary elections on October 5, 2002 , she won 20 of the 100 seats in the Latvian parliament Saeima (1998: 24). After 2004 she presented with Artis Pabriks u. a. the Foreign Minister of Latvia and with Aigars Kalvītis also the Prime Minister. Together with the Neue Zeit (JL) , the First Party of Latvia (LPP) and the Alliance of Greens and Peasants (ZZS) , the TP was part of a government coalition until 2010 and had 6 ministers in the cabinet .
For the 2010 parliamentary elections , the Tautas Partija, the Latvijas Pirmā partija / Latvijas Ceļš (LPP / LC) and other groups formed the electoral alliance Par Labu Latviju! ( For a good Latvia! ), Which only won 8 seats in total. Due to a decision at the party congress, the former ruling party was dissolved on July 9, 2011. In August, a court order was due to recover the amount of 1.03 million lats for unauthorized transfers from the treasury . On October 26, the former general secretary and person in charge of the dissolution, Ramona Pitena, announced the bankruptcy of the former ruling party: there were only 3,000 lats in the cash register.
