tautology

Tautology or tautological (from ancient Greek tautología "repetition of what has already been said") stands for:

  • Tautology (logic) , a statement that is always true, regardless of the truth value of the underlying components
  • in philosophy a definition that includes what is to be explained in the explanation, see Idem per idem
  • Tautology (language) , stylistically an accumulation of synonymous words
