White Cross in Hitzkirch

The White Cross is an 18th century building in Hitzkirch .

history

When the tavern Zum Weisse Kreuz below the Hitzkirch church went into private ownership, the tavern rights were transferred to the Weisse Kreuz in the "Fendlen". From then on it belonged to the Teutonic Order Coming and was, as it were, their own farm. Accordingly, it also included a piece of vineyard.

With the dissolution of the Teutonic Order around 1803, the tavern went into private ownership.

In 1986 the Weisse Kreuz underwent a comprehensive renovation because it was recognized that it was a structurally unique property that was worth protecting. In 1987 it was placed under protection and included in the cantonal register of monuments. The house still bears witness to its valuable and impressive architectural style.
